Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense.
I specialize in translating the feelings we have for our horses into custom equine art. Picture that expression of spirit in an energy or a glance from your horse. Have you sensed those moments of pride, curiosity, trust, relief, joy? One of my favorite looks on my horse’s face is the one when he’s relieved to see me—the low nicker and then the look as he trots over to shove his face into the halter.
If you’ll let me capture those au naturel moments, without the influence of tack, and when your horse is responding just to you and your energy, they’ll be the most engaging and magical, I promise!
What about your horse makes you melt, laugh, or reach for a carrot? What whorl, mane or tail do you love to play with and what does your horse enjoy more than anything? To me, such looks, details and moments are “art worthy.” What better way to inform and deepen the bond you have with your horse than to bring his or her allure home with you in the form of art!
Art of our horses can encompass many things. For example, the image in the banner at the top of this page is a macro shot of one of my favorite winter “hair sculptures”—a detail on my horse that fascinates me while grooming him in winter. Looking like a sheaf of wheat, it also reminds me of the beauty that can come when opposing forces—like I feel with my horse at times—are met with delicate support and flair!
Because I want many more horses to feel as loved as those I’m honored to see through my lens, I donate a portion of each Day With My Horse and HeART of Equus purchase toward your choice of one of three Washington horse rescue organizations: Save A Forgotten Equine, Rancho Laguna’s Heart, and Second Chance Ranch.
Let go of the concept that art is a luxury. It’s a necessity. A home without human-created art is like a face without eyes. —Danielle LaPorte

“HeART of Equus” Digital Painting – $495 includes:
1) $100 toward printed product choice
2) subtly watermarked digital version for social media
Maybe you already have a high resolution digital photo that you took of your horse that you love. Or maybe you’d like a referral to a pro photographer in your area. With the photographer’s written permission, I will create a digital oil painting from a photo in a style that compliments the energy and personality of your horse. For example, the first two digital paintings below show a couple of different styles for two very different horses even though they’re shown in a similar “pose”. The first is a sensitive, subtly-colored mare with lovely highlights in her mane and the other is a contrasty, big, bold gelding. The third example shows how a different background than in the original photo can lend a more formal feeling to a portrait.
A $200 deposit is required to book your session or begin your painting ($600 deposit for video or photo album). Check, cash or credit cards are accepted. Travel to photo sessions anywhere inside King County, WA is included. Keep in mind that every season brings wonderful artistic elements with it! As long as it’s not raining, cloudy skies offer a softness that’s lovely; cold air brings steamy breath; fog lends a bit of mystery, and furry coats bring out lush details. Of course we’ll chat about all these things as well as your horse’s environment before the shoot, but you can trust that in addition to capturing images that convey the things you love, I’ll surprise and delight you with things you never thought of! And…I guarantee there’ll be an image you adore or I’ll return your deposit! You have nothing to lose and cherished art to gain!
Maybe you can picture your horse in one of the photographic styles below…or your favorite detail beautifully rendered like the one in the banner at the top of this page (which is just a narrow slice of a much larger piece). Let your imagination run with it. Photo or digital painting, I would love to talk with you about the art that resides in your heart of your horse. Call 425-747-4115 today.
Comments I’ve received from customers about my work
I cherish this special video of our day at the barn, jumping. She left way. too. soon.
I’ve never seen my horse look so stunning!

My art comes with a promise
Consider adding a deeper layer to your togetherness with your horse through art that reveals your horse’s spirit. Whether it’s my art or I help you with yours, the process and result will raise your appreciation for your horse’s desire and ability to communicate. You’ll take things more slowly and notice more nuance…you’ll enjoy more eagerness after the pauses…and as you listen more closely to your horse, you’ll understand so much more. This much compassion at the end of a day with your horse can’t help but deepen your togetherness.
Make new memories, revitalize others, strengthen your heart-felt desire to put in the time and energy a bond requires, and you’ll notice the cues to get togetherness right.
